Family Concert 2002
Theme: Meet The Royals
Each year the orchestra lets its hair down and presents a concert for children. A light but varied programme is chosen - often based on a theme - with much audience participation. In recent years the orchestra has thrown off the traditional DJ in favour of well.... silly costumes. It's a tremendous hit with the kids.
During the interval the children come up to the stage to see the instruments up close. Absolute bedlam follows but we feel it's worth it. If even one child goes home after blowing down a trombone with the idea that he or she would like to play a musical instrument, there is a chance that we will have enriched a young life with a need for music. What a great way to spend an afternoon!
